LASER-LIGHT    Bonding for Braces

Dr. Nicholson’s orthodontic residency at the University of Tennessee taught him state of the art techniques for attaching braces to patients’ teeth. He soon learned the self-cure bonding system was weak and the brackets came off easily. The banding process produced a stronger bond, but was painful for the patient.

His idea to use a light cured adhesive to bond braces was proven in a laboratory study with a bond approximately twice as strong as the current self-cure adhesives.

Additionally, the light cured adhesive does not harden until the light is directed onto it. This gives the orthodontist time to achieve ideal bracket placement and create the beautiful smiles. This became an important part of Dr. Nicholson’s quest to develop the Painless Braces™ System.

The United States Patent Office granted Dr. Nicholson three patents for his innovative idea, which is known as the Laser-Light™ Bonding System for Braces. He licensed this state-of-the-art system to several companies, and today it has become the preferred way orthodontists bond braces to their patient’s teeth.
